Welcome to Harwich

Harwich, a town in Massachusetts, was named after an English seaport that Queen Elizabeth named "Happy-go-lucky Harwich" during the late 16th century. Today, Harwich Port is known as America's second happiest seaside town, and the town is comprised of seven villages, all of which are located along the waters of Nantucket Sound and reach all the way east to beautiful Pleasant Bay. The town offers various charming spots, including Harwich Port, the most charming spot in the town, where visitors can explore artisan galleries, restaurants, and boutique shops, while Harwich Center is a quiet and quaint village with historic structures and a few stores, including an old-fashioned hardware store and a coffee shop.

Harwich is a leading grower of cranberries, and visitors can witness the glory of cranberry bogs in the fall during the annual autumn Cranberry Festival, which celebrates the prosperity that the vibrant berry brought to Harwich. Arts and culture are also celebrated in Harwich, with Cape Cod Theatre Company offering theatre productions, workshops, and educational programs throughout the year, and Brooks Academy Museum in Harwich Center featuring exhibits chronicling Harwich's colorful history. Visitors can enjoy outdoor activities, including biking the Cape Cod Rail Trail, visiting the Cape Cod Lavender Farm, and going on seal cruises and fishing charters departing from Harwich Port in season.
