Barnstable

Barnstable is the largest town on Cape Cod, covering 60 square miles and featuring seven distinctive villages. The largest village, Hyannis, is the commercial and transportation hub of Cape Cod, offering an airport and transportation center for ferries and buses to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Hyannis boasts a lively waterfront, a thriving downtown with shops and restaurants, and a maritime museum. Hyannisport, a tiny enclave, is famous as the summer home of President John F. Kennedy and his family, and visitors can explore the JFK Hyannis Museum and legacy trail. The remaining five villages define the essence of Cape Cod life, from Cotuit’s Oyster Capital of the World to Centerville’s quiet residential community, to West Barnstable’s Sandy Neck Beach on Cape Cod Bay. The town also features two state-designated cultural districts, with galleries, museums, and performance spaces.
